This list sets out the examples of the formal written methods for all four operations to illustrate what we would like our mathematicians to be working towards. It is not an exhaustive list and there are many steps to be taken before these methods, including many mental strategies to build up knowledge and understanding. These methods do not show the progression of mental to written calculations.
